Monday Moms!

So I am going to try something new! Since the majority of you reading this are moms, I thought it would be good (mainly for me) each Monday to post my favorite thoughts on being a Mom. That way you can start your week off right! I got the inspiration this weekend watching General Conferance and hearing Elder Ballard's talk on motherhood. He shared the most amazing quote by Anne Quindlen...

"The biggest mistake I made as a parent is the one that most of us make - I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of my three small children, sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day; ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get onto the next thing - dinner, bath, book, and bed.
I wish
I had treasured the doing more
and the getting it done a little less."

My mom and dad are wonderful examples of treasuring moments. They have 8 kids and 21 grandchildren and each one of us feels like we are the favorite - they will travel 20 hours one weekend just to catch a baby blessing, baptism, or just stop by to say hi. This picture is the perfect example... My mom had planned to come to town the week after I was expected to deliver Paisley. Paisley was a slow-comer so the timing worked great and my mom was able to see her in the hospital. My dad was stuck at home working and we were sad that we didn't know when Grandpa was going to get the chance to meet Paisley. The day we came home from the hospital my mom took care of Paisley so Blake and I could get some sleep that afternoon. When I woke up from my nap, I walked into the living room and there was my dad holding my brand-new baby girl. My dad had put work aside, flew hundreds of miles, and gave me one of the best surprises of my life-time. My house felt full and complete and I am eternally grateful for this memory.

P.S. This will be my longest post ever - I promise!
