Monday Moms!

Yes - you read that right... Monday Moms! But wait, you are saying, "You haven't posted one of these in like months and hello - it's Tuesday." I know - a day late (well more like 4 months late) but I got good reason, well not good reason... just a reason - being a mom. Good enough right? Anyways, ALL day yesterday I tried to get on here to post some of my recent "mom thoughts" - but it just wasn't happening. Today both girls went down for a nap at the same time (miracle?!?) so we will see how far we get.

...for the sake of retaining a remission of your sins from day to day, that ye may walk guiltless before God—I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.
-Mosiah 4:26

There was a recent article in the Ensign that really struck me - a young mom was becoming frustrated in her life because she felt that she lacked the time/energy to give meaningful service to others. As she was contemplating this and reading her scriptures she came across this verse in Mosiah. At first it frustrated her more - how did she have time to do service for others, when she was barely managing to care for her own family? But that night as she reflected back on her day - she realized she was already doing those things that this scripture taught. Each day she bathed and clothed her children, planned and prepared meals for the family, and cared for every ailment from knee scratches to pnuemonia.

I think as moms we often feel that we are not contributing enough. This is SO not the case - it is one of the many lies that Satan uses to make women feel worthless. He wants moms to question why they are having children and if they are doing any good staying home with them. He wants us to feel that we need to have the salary, job title, or educational degrees to measure our successes by. He doesn't want us to see the future rewards we are reaping by our daily efforts in caring for the temporal and physical needs of our spouses and children.

My example of "feeding the hungry" some chocolate-covered strawberries - can't beat that!

Love this! I've missed your Monday Mom posts! But I know you've had good reason- two good reasons for the absence.

You are so wise! I love learning from you! I've been thinking a lot about this lately! It is wonderful being a Mom! It's something I appreciate more everyday!

Ahh the priorites of life. Somehow they become muddled amid the pressures of the world.
Thanks for adding some clarity to my life today.
